Support - Email
"How do I check my email?", you may be asking yourself. There are two ways: use the webmail interface, or set up your email program to talk to the MonkeyBrains mail server. Perhaps, you are having trouble sending email... relaying denied? Check near the end of this page. The only other question you could have would be, "What is my email address?" That depends. Either UserName@MonkeyBrains.net or -- if you host a domain -- UserName@YourDomain.com.I'll briefly explain how to setup various programs like Thunderbird and Outlook. Thunderbird (made by the Mozilla team) is a program available for free for UNIX, PC, and Mac users. Thunderbird is an open-source, free email reader -- we can help you the most this this program as this is what Rudy and Alex use. If you are using another email program, please consult the program's documentation (RTFM) -- if it is a non-free program, it probably came with paid-for support. Any how, if you are clever, you can read these directions and transpose the information provided to set up any email reading software. Methodology, not rote, is the key to mastering your computer.

Does monkeybrains offer web based email?
Yes, You can check online by logging into: My.MonkeyBrains.Net.
Can I check my email over SSL? Can my email be encrypted?
Sure. Set up your email client to use SSL. Here is an SSL configuration example with Microsoft Outlook. Alternatively, you may use the interface at mail.monkeybrains.net (which is encrypted).
I keep getting a Relaying denied... message, why?
You need to authenticate before sending mail out. This is >eccessary to combat spam. Webmail users need not worry about this. Here is how to set up Authentication before email sending:

I am not dialed up to MonkeyBrains, and I am having trouble sending mail using the Monkeybrains server, why?
See the above question about Relaying denied.
I cannot connect to the monkeybrains webserver because I am in a HOTEL, OFFICE, or home DSL line that blocks access to port 25. What do I do?
Configure your mail client to connect to port 1000 on the mail server instead of port 25. Port 1000 is a 'back door' to get around firewalls that block outgoing connections to port 25. Some locations impliment this security feature to reduce spam.
