Is this site in anyway connected to Monkeybrains (other than use of the word)?
Anyone?

It suprises me that people are all of a sudden aware/concerned with this pro-
blem of "big brother". It's been coming for YEARS! Open your eyes people, his-
tory is not only destined to repeat itself, it must!!! Before you know it some-
one you know (or even yourself) will be dragged away and questioned (tortured?)
concerning their comments or beliefs. And don't be so naive as to think that
security powers need permission, warrents or any other such diplomacy. Red tape
is there to bog us down, not them. It's happened in every other country and it
IS going to happen here. Doesn't anyone remember the Chicago 8? (you hear it
refered to as 7, but do your homework) How about the Chicago motorcycle police
who were clad in black leather and encouraged to kick the poo out of hippies?
What about all the innocent people in jail, put there through manipulated evi-
dence? This is just the beginning!! You all would be wise to look over your
shoulder, big bro has been there for some time now!!

Let it be known that Monkey Brains has been an integral and intimate partner in the birth and success of the Muwekma Ohlone Park and other pro active activities here in District 10 of San Francisco. As a result of the creation of http://www.islaiscreek.org via Monkey Brains ,there now exists a comprehensive habitat survey of the Islais Creek Basin, that is now a tool of mitigation for issues of development in our area, historical data, community links and photos, educational tools, art and more. Monkey Brains exemplifies the quality and need for alternative, non-mainstream media grassroots organizations, and proactivity::::::: especially in view of the current tragic federal administration! Actually, Harris, you are incorrect. Thousands of monkeys were put on earth a long time ago (actual date open to arguement). However, one monkey - namely Shakespeare - managed to crank out a 'Shakespeare' play in approximately 1587*.
So, sorry jackass, it took this monkey 413 years longer to produce this site while sitting in the same room called earth.

i've always wondered about that proposed monkey/shakespeare experiment. who is the smart monkey who cobbles together all the words INTO shakespeare's works? i mean, who cares if it's all spread out and mixed up and a word here and there? of what value is that? that ain't shakespeare.
gee
- Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at 08:17:54 (PDT)

Mmmmmmmm....... monkey brains. It has been said that if a thousand monkeys are put in a room with a thousand typewriters they will eventually come up with the works of Shakespeare. If we accept the logic of this, and I think we must, we must also accept that, prior to completing the works of Shakespeare the monkeys will also have written the code for monkeybrains.net. The question is - how prior?

RUUUUDYYYYYYYYY!! It's Mark in Portland. Hi there. Hi Isabella (spelling?).
Hi Vawter. Did you blow stuff up over the weekend? We did. In fact, we
incinerated most of a sack of fireworks which was once allegedly owned by
the Rucker Family. Somebody one-upped us, though, by blowing up the bus
stop across the street from our house. How low down can you get? Of all the
worthwhile things sitting around *begging* to be blown up-- a bus stop!

Anyhow, things are freaky up here as usual. Drop us a line if you're in the

Second year of drought. Trees dying in all city parks. Bardstown Rd. still rocks, Bobby J's was sold for 1 million to a local bizman, Cahoots is still the coldest vodka gimlet in town. Tech boom has prompted the moniker "Silicon Holler". Big players are still GE, Brown Foreman and that big tobacco fuck, whatsis. That's it, Brown and Williamson. si! peru kicked arse. the moutains were so tall and craggy, kinda like chunks of chocolate, i don't know why. cuzco had a square with really smooth, slippery, squares of stone, about 12" by 12" each. we ate a lot at this one small vegetarian restaurant run by a woman and her lil daughter. i liked their food. not greasy! but there was a turd in the toilet one of the days we went there, and no sign of flushing. oh, the mellow third world.

lima was a crumbly, big city. with colonial type mansions next to high rise modern boxes. so many of the mansion type places were for VENTE and seemed abandoned. not enough hipsters to rent weird places? not enough money? we went to the artist area, barranco, but it wasn't all that arty on the surface we scraped. seemed more like cafes and bars. oh yeah, that'a art! it's hard to figure out where the cool stuff is, sometimes, in other countries. like, maybe it's right in front of you but you can't even recognize it. programmed as you may be by NYC and SF standards of COOL.

incan ruins are cool though. sit in some and feel the still air. look though the "picture window" of one on to mountains across a valley. wind your way through the halls, on the soft carpet/grass. see a rabbbit with a longass tail, like a squirrel. hear a hippy gringo playing flute. ha.

it was great. not hard to get to, either. go for it!

Today, there were demonstrations in Cusco, Peru. The locals are worked up about
the run-off election: Fujimori vs. Toledo. Tires were burned, people marched, signs read ´Fraud 2000´. About an hour ago, the town ´Principal´ (equivalent of the mayor I believe), posted a hand written sign in the center Plaza of Cusco announcing that the elections would be delayed until May 31, 2000. That ought to give me enough time to get out of the country before the shit hits the fan!

Yesterday, I awoke in Ollotaytambo, Peru in a large airy room. The somewhat hard but flat bed was greatly appretiated by my back: I had just finished a 42km hike on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The steepness of the Andes is not to be taken lightly! Back to the Ollotaytambo, the Inca ruins in this town have some unique features. The carvings in the face of the granite cliffs I have not seen elsewhere. Small steps lead up to a narrow platform which my sister and I sat on. Below, we watched a meadow get watered by a stream and eaten by a burro and a cow. All the cows (male and female) have horns in Peru. The locals restrain the cows by tieing a rope around the horns to a tree or fence post. Sometimes a second cow (not already tied to a tree via horns) will be tied via a 6 foot rope to a restrained cow. Cow-to-cow ropes are usually on the two cows front legs.

The previous day, I awoke to Quechwan mumblings of my group´s porters. Our final night on the trail we stayed in a somewhat crowded campground, so they sacked out behind our tents. Our group of 10 had 6 porters. Three of us opted to carry our own packs, the other 7 bags where hauled by the porters. These strong country Peruvians carried all their supplies (not much...) and the seven bags. The campground was empty when we awoke at 7am. All the other hikers left at 4am to see the sun rise over Machu Picchu´s temple of the sun. Like - whatever - I have a very active imagination. Our group walked through the Temple of the Sun around 9am; I easily moved the sun from about 2 feet above the horizen to a location directly over the Temple.

The day before was the day of unending downhill. The Andes range anywhere from 45 degrees to 90 degrees in steepness. Would a local Andean be freaked out in Kansas or some other flat local? Imagine never having seen flatness... a world of freakish topography. Well, I had never hiked, much less seen, such ragged terrain. The Inca´s did not make switchbacks in their trails. They believed in the shortest distance between two points is a straight line!

AAAAARGH! COVAD, it appears, is down again, and I can't get all my exciting and up to date information about Windows 2000! Wahhh! Of course i could walk down to Moscone, but since I already walked four blocks out of the way to avoid the thronging hoardes bursting their bladders to see BG reiterate that M$ invented the GUI and the CLI I need my ArsTechnica!!! I think, Rudy, that you need to add more content to your website for times like this (which is not to say that I should get off my lazy tuckus and actually fill that vacant swatch of HD space I've been sitting on for almost a year now; as soon as I figure out how to get my Buz card to sinc audio with sound I'll start flooding it with movies). I suggest the claymation video, do a RealPlayer feed or something like that so I can watch it over and over and make my friends watch it when they come over...

Really, it has profound psychological and sociological implications.

Of course, I could simply put it up myself.

Sigh...

I guess I'm just stressed out because I can't get my alt.gothic.

That or the fact that I can't get my Matrox card working properly under BeOS.

That or the fact that I can't do ANYTHING but read the monkeybrains FAQ over and over again.

Just saw your picture on your website. Beauty. But what i can't figure out is: How is it that your family is so unusually intelligent, talented, technically savvy and erudite(not to mention strangely alluring)but with the decided air of cornfed,inbred,trailer-trained yeehaws? Oh,i see. You've done well but gone just a bit too far with this charade. Listen up "Rudy" or whatever your real name is- You all are NOT FOOLING ME! This planet is ours! The HUMAN RACE'S! Your kind may be making certain inroads here but we will never let you alien

Dear everybody,

I will be moving to SF within three weeks, and I have never been to the
states before. It'll be great for me to know which areas of SF are best
for living, and how's the typical appartment price range for a 1-2 bedroom
appartment. Any other comment is highly appreciated too.

Please email me at nasser@who.net. Thanks in advance.

Someone stole my motorcycle.
Today I saw it in town. For a few days, it had been in the same spot: the kickstand had made an indentation in the month old spot of repair crew asphalt it was parked on.
I tried to start it, but it was out of gas. I felt wierd tring to start - unsuccessfully - my own bike. Eyes were burning me up: I got off the bike looked around and saw someonw looking at me from their 'Live/Work' loft.
He was on a cell phone - 17th and DeHaro.
I hurried to a friend's warehouse: "Hey, will you help me steal my bike back?"
Baseball bats, jumper cables, and one of those cute red spare gas holders were loaded up in Kal's pickup.
My mind was at ease: going to get what was mine.
We got to 16th and DeHaro: "Go left here."
At the next corner, the bike was not there. But, but, but I just saw it here. We started around the block. Someone had hid it, moved it, driven it off (why counldn't I start it), or I'd imagined the whole thing. The dent was still in the pavement.
Round the block, I spotted my bike parked between two cars: "There it is!"
I got out with the baseball bat. Kal went to fill the cute little gas container with gasoline.
Across the street, there is an outdoor cafe. I went there, got a pink lemonade, felt awkard holding a bat while at the cash register, and went out and sat down. My eyes were on my motorcycle.
I waited.
My mind was not as ease. The thief was probably watching me.
A shifty man was at the corner. Two men were inside the cafe looking out the window at me and my bat. A man walked by and glanced at the bike: he didn't see me.
Within the past 15 minutes someone had pushed my bike one block - they, too, couldn't start it.
Kal arrived, parking his truck to block in the motorcycle. I walked over to him, and got the gas inside the bike.
The gas cap keyhole was marred. Someone had run out of gas and couldn't open the tank.
The ignition had been brutalized with a screwdriver: why hadn't they thought to do that to the gas tank? Unanswered questions filled my mind.
We were being watched. We got the jumper cables from the truck motor to the bike battery: red on positve, black on the cation terminal.
Kal and I flipped off everyone in sisht, reved the motorcyle engine, and got the hell out of there.

- Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 14:20:45 (PST)

So when I was raking the bank behind our house last month I stepped on an underground hornets nest and they stung me four times. By now they'd probably forgotten about it, but I hadn't. All week I've been working on them, now that it's so cold that they're sluggish. Every day I got up about 7 before their wings warmed up. One day I raked all the junk from around the hole in the ground that led to their nest, but then they started coming out after me and I had to stop. The next day I poured a quart of paraffin (lamp oil) into that hole and tried to light it but it wouldn't light and they started coming out and I left. The next day I scraped away some dirt and they weren't coming out. Poisoned by the hydrocarbons? Kind of a sad thing, in a way, I felt a little mean. While scraping around, I glipsed some acreage of small hexagons. The Nest! I poured in some fondue-lamp-fuel methyl alcohol in the hole along with another quart of paraffin and lit it and it burned really well, a Hell flame guttering up out of the ground. I was scared to leave it burning, so after a few minutes backfilled some dirt over it, and a lot of smoke filled the cave. The next day I looked and nothing was going on, I was on my way to SF to shop and see Rudy and Izzy, so left it alone. The next day (today) I got a shovel and dug out to see what was there, about five small-pizza-sized layers of inch-thick disks of hexagons. Like honeycombs. Most were empty, but some had dead grubs. There were only a dozen or so corpses of wasps. Sometimes when I focus on something I shrink to its size (mentally), so digging out those hexagons, I felt almost like I was inside the cavern. Exploring a Bosch/Brueghel Underworld. A sci-fi feeling of entering the Alien Nest, like a 50s SciFi Horror film guy in a floppy diving-suit/space-suit walkign into the echoing cavern with the great Nest, a twittering from Them. (THE classic giant Ant movie is called "Them", it's where they go down in the nest of the giant Ants.) But where did They all go, why aren't there more bodies? Maybe they all took off after one of my earlier attacks, or maybe there already weren't many left because it's winter and perhspas I've been in effect bombing empty ruins. Maybe they go down to a skeleton crew in the winter, maybe the layer after layer of honeycombs were nests of earlier years. In that case, this was worth doing for sure, if there was a Queen and an elite Court of her Attendants, maybe they won't start up again in the Spring. Aw, sure they will, the race of Hornet is as the Sea against human depredations. I do have a feeling of unease, though, at having prevailed, at having killed off my "sparring partners". Kind of looking forward to next Spring, to the next round in this Donald Duck hullabaloo.

Actually, it's the Furbies- under the influence of nicoderm patches- have a wayward passion for artificial sheep husbandry and assiduous bovine control tendencies. Like hopped-up cow supply faucets. They also have secret mind-control uplink to local "latest postmodern noise" bands. Rudy, your friend is just a Ferbie pawn, duped into thinking he was making a killing on the "black market" when he is just the unwitting middleman (ie 'dupe', stooge, mark, wally, ie 'sucker') in a market controlled by the Furbies, for the Furbies, of the Furbies, who collect finders fees, stipends, off-the-top margins, and commissions with every sale. They invented and publicized the entire Y2K phenomenon as a marketing angle, to create new needs, all this to fund their Furbie genetic manipulation and home shopping experiments. At least they exterminated the last of the Tomaguchi genes in their maniacal efforts. Keep watching the pastures...and the "Weekend/Arts and Leisure" section of any major metropolitan newspaper. There, how's that for a "discussion buster"...this Monkeybrains(tm) DIY thing was pretty cool while it lasted, before the Freaks logged on.
